Covid-19 Policies and Procedures
The following policies and procedures have been put in place to protect the children, staff, and parents at TLC Day Care.
Drop Off and Pick Up
-
Parents will drop off their child(ren) at the front entrance of the facility. They will hand off their child(ren) and belongings to a staff member. Staff and parents MUST wear masks at the exchange. Children are not required to wear masks. However, children over 4 years old are highly encouraged to wear them while inside TLC.
-
Staff will bring the child(ren) to their classroom and hand off belongings or any other information the parent has provided.
-
Pick up will be a similar process. Parents will come to the front door. A staff member will collect the child’s belongings and bring it to the parent, along with information from the teacher and/or daily sheet.
-
Feel free to call your child’s teacher if you need to speak to them directly or leave a message with Francina (516) 659-2247.
Daily Health Checks and Screenings
-
A staff member will do a COVID check at check in. Temperatures will be checked and we will ask how your child is feeling. In addition, their main teacher will do a daily health check.
-
If your child displays any signs of illness, they will be sent home immediately and require a doctor’s note to return to school.
-
Every week, parents are sent a Covid-19 Health Screening to complete. This form is electronic and will be sent to their email for completion. For a copy of the form, please click here.
Staff Checks/Absences
-
Similar to children, staff will NOT be able to work if they have signs of illness and will need a doctor’s note to return.
-
Staff will be in good health and wear masks/gloves to protect themselves and the children.
Positive COVID Tests
-
If a child or staff member tests positive in your child’s classroom, you will be notified via email and/or phone call. If we receive notice during the day and your child is already in daycare, we will ask you to pick them up as soon as possible.
-
We will provide you with the latest Nassau County Health Department quarantine guidelines for each situation.
-
We will require a copy of the Release from Isolation Notice from the NYS Department of health in order to return.
Smaller Groups
-
The maximum group size is 15 for children in Nursery School and Pre-k.
-
Infants and toddlers will remain in groups of 6, 8, 10, or 12 depending on age.
Hygiene Routines
-
We are constantly washing hands and it has become part of our daily routine to wash before and after:
-
Meals
-
Outdoor time
-
Diaper/toilet routine
-
Cleaning and Sanitizing
-
The staff is very diligent in keeping the program clean. They are constantly wiping down tables and counter tops.
-
Toys are rotated to keep up with disinfecting.
-
Cleaning includes the wiping of shelves, door handles, knobs, and common areas.
-
Toilets and sinks are wiped down throughout the day.
-
A professional company using “hospital grade” disinfectant sterilizes every Friday in addition to the everyday cleaning.
Social Distance Strategies
-
Although it is very difficult to separate children, we will do our best to keep the children in small groups during activities.
-
While eating, coloring, painting, and writing we use multiple tables.
-
Centers are limited to four in an area.
-
Mats are spread out every three feet and children are placed head to toe.
